Here are the notes from The Prayer Life lesson in Beautiful Consistency.
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Praise- verse 9
Psalm 100:4We praise God to take the focus off ourselves and place it on God. We need to praise both his character as well as the good he does for us. Do you keep track of the good he has done?
Purpose- verse 10
Romans 12:2 Are you able to say: I want what You want more than what I want? To be able to do this we need to allow God to focus on God’s will and allow him to take control.
Provision- verse 11
Philippians 4:6, 4:19If your worry is big enough to worry about then it’s big enough to pray about. Nothing is too big or too small for God.
Pardon-verse 12a
Psalm 139, Proverbs 18:13, Matt. 5:23-24, 1 John 1:9
4 steps to forgiveness
1) Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal all sins
2) Confess each sin separately
3) Ask others for forgiveness when needed
4) By Faith accept God’s forgiveness
Purity-verse 12b
1 John 3:21, Psalm 66:18We need to let goof our grudges and bitterness to others. God first forgave us, so we need to forgive others.
Protection-verse 13
1 Cor. 10:13This allows us to rely on the strength of God, rather then our own strength.
All relationships rely on communication and prayer is our way to communicate directly to God
